HubSpot's New Pricing Explained: Editions, Seats and Credits.

HUBSPOT PRICING GUIDE

How Does HubSpot's New Pricing Work?

HubSpot's new pricing replaces separate hubs with three ingredients: an edition (Starter, Professional or Enterprise) that unlocks the whole platform, seats for the people who use it, and credits for the work HubSpot does on its own, like sending emails, running workflow steps and powering AI agents. You no longer buy Marketing, Sales and Service separately. You pick how big your business is, staff it, and pay for what actually runs.

The easiest way to understand it is to stop thinking about software and start thinking about a restaurant. Under the old model you paid separately for the bar, the dining room and the takeaway counter, even though they all shared one kitchen. Now you run one restaurant, you staff it, and you pay for what the kitchen cooks.

What Has Changed in HubSpot's Pricing

Until now you bought hubs: one for marketing, one for sales, one for service, each at its own tier. Mixing a Professional Marketing Hub with a Starter Sales Hub was normal, and working out the bill meant untangling hubs, seat types, marketing contacts and add-ons. The new model throws that out and asks three simpler questions.

The Old Model
Pay for Every Room Separately

Each hub was a separate purchase with its own tier, seats and limits.

  • Marketing, Sales and Service bought one by one
  • Mixed tiers across hubs
  • Marketing contacts billed by database size
The New Model
Run One Restaurant

One edition covers the whole platform. Seats and credits flex with how you work.

  • Edition: how big and complex the business is
  • Seats: who works where
  • Credits and packs: what the kitchen cooks

How Big Is Your Restaurant

You now buy HubSpot itself at one of three editions, and every edition comes with the whole platform. Marketing, sales, service and the rest are all in the building. What changes between editions is scale and sophistication, not which rooms you are allowed into.

01

Starter: The Neighbourhood Café

Built for small teams, with a maximum of 10 paid users and typically fewer than 5,000 contacts. You get basic automation, live chat and the core tools to find and win customers.

02

Professional: The Busy Restaurant With a Full Menu

For growing teams, typically with fewer than 50,000 contacts. Professional adds omni-channel automation, custom objects, the Customer Agent and multi-touch revenue reporting.

03

Enterprise: The Restaurant Group

For large teams and databases of more than 50,000 contacts, with sandboxes, granular permissions and multi-account management for businesses running several operations at once.

The question HubSpot now asks is simple: how large and how complex is your business? That answer is your edition.

Who Works Where

Seats are your staff. HubSpot has cut them down to four kinds, and there are no seat minimums, so you only pay for the people you actually need.

01

Front of House: The GTM Seat

The people who deal with your customers: the waiters, the maître d' and whoever takes the booking. In HubSpot terms that means sales, service, customer success and anyone who publishes content or sends marketing emails. They get the sales workspace, help desk, customer success workspace, quotes and playbooks, plus everything the kitchen has.

02

The Kitchen: The Ops Seat

The people who keep the place running but never go out to a table. They run reports and dashboards, manage the team, enrich the data and build the automation. Your RevOps lead or your workflow builder lives here.

03

Diners at the Window: View-Only Seats

They can see what is going on but can't touch anything. The managing director who checks the dashboards on a Monday doesn't need a paid seat. View-only seats are free.

04

The Oven Engineer: Developer Seats

Also free, for the people who build and maintain your integrations.

The one-question test. HubSpot's own rule for choosing a seat is simple: does this person engage with customers through HubSpot? If yes, they are front of house and need a GTM seat. If no, they belong in the kitchen with an Ops seat.

HubSpot Seat Prices by Edition

Seat Starter Professional Enterprise
GTM (front of house)€20€100€175
Ops (the kitchen)✗€50€50
View-only (diners at the window)FreeFreeFree
Developer (the oven engineer)FreeFreeFree

Prices are per seat, per month. Ops seats are not available on Starter.

Paying for What the Kitchen Cooks

Seats pay for your staff. Credits pay for the work HubSpot does on its own: the dishes that leave the kitchen. That means emails sent, workflow actions run, AI agents answering questions, quotes accepted and WhatsApp messages. Credits cost €10 per 1,000, and every edition comes with some included. There are two ways to stock the kitchen.

Packs
A Standing Order With Your Supplier

You agree a fixed monthly delivery at a better price, so the bill is the same every month.

  • Email sends packs
  • Workflow actions packs
  • AI agents packs
Pay-as-You-Go
Popping to the Shop When You Run Short

No commitment, but you pay the full rate, and on a busy month it adds up quickly.

  • Billed monthly after you use it
  • Good for unpredictable usage
  • Easy to overspend without caps

What's Worth Knowing on the Menu

01

Email Is Charged per Send, Not per Contact

Marketing contacts are gone. You can keep as many past customers on the books as your edition allows and only pay when you email them. Automated emails such as meeting reminders and surveys count. One-to-one emails from your own inbox and sequences don't. If you read our guide to HubSpot marketing contacts, this is the biggest change to how that works.

02

Workflows Charge per Step, per Record

A renewal workflow that creates a deal, sets a task and updates a date is three actions every time a customer goes through it. Delays and branches are free. According to HubSpot, the workflow pack for each edition covers more than 99% of customers.

03

Any Contact Can Go Into Ad Targeting

Not just the ones you paid to market to, which opens up retargeting audiences that used to cost extra.

04

You Set the Budget With the Supplier

Spend caps can be set for the whole portal, for one feature or for one action, with alerts as usage climbs, so nobody gets a surprise invoice.

What Does a Professional Portal Cost Each Month

Take a growing B2B firm on Professional, used here as an illustration rather than a real client. Two salespeople, one marketer and one person on customer support work front of house. One operations lead runs reporting and automation in the kitchen. Three directors only check the dashboards.

Item Who or What Per Month
GTM seats2 sales, 1 marketing, 1 support€400
Ops seat1 operations lead€50
View-only seats3 directorsFree
Email pack2,000 sends a month€200
Workflow packProfessional, up to 500,000 actions€150
Credits200 Customer Agent chats and 10 accepted quotes, less 10,000 included€10
Total€810

The seats are the predictable part. The bill moves with how the kitchen is run: how often you email, how many steps your workflows take and how much work you hand to AI agents.

Is Your Restaurant Set Up to Save Money

Under usage-based pricing, the way your portal is run shows up directly on the invoice. These are the patterns we look for first.

Signs You're Set Up Well

Every paid seat matches the one-question test
Directors and stakeholders are on free view-only seats
Unengaged contacts are suppressed before every send
Workflows are documented, owned and reviewed
Spend caps and alerts are switched on

Where Restaurants Get It Wrong

Kitchen staff front of house. A GTM seat for someone who only runs reports costs twice what they need.
Cooking for an empty dining room. Emailing contacts who never open now costs money on every send.
Leaving the gas on. Old workflows nobody remembers still run, and every step uses credits.
No budget with the supplier. Without spend caps, a busy month becomes a bill you didn't plan for.
The warbble take. The new model is genuinely simpler to buy, but it rewards a well-run portal and quietly punishes a messy one. Seat choices, list hygiene and workflow sprawl used to be housekeeping. Now they are line items. That's why we run a free 20-minute Pricing Check before you move: we look at your team and how you work, then tell you on one page which edition, which seats, which packs and which spend caps you need. Sometimes the right answer is to change nothing. After go-live, every Thrive retainer tier now includes Credit Care: a monthly look at usage against your packs, clean-up of the workflows and sends that waste credits, and a report showing what we cut and what it saved.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does HubSpot's new pricing model work? ▾
HubSpot now prices on three components: an edition (Starter, Professional or Enterprise) that includes the whole platform, seats for the people using it, and credits for usage such as email sends, workflow actions and AI agents. You no longer buy Marketing, Sales and Service Hubs separately.
What is the difference between a GTM seat and an Ops seat in HubSpot? ▾
A GTM seat is for anyone who engages with customers through HubSpot, including sales, service, customer success and marketers who send emails or publish content. An Ops seat is for people who run reports, build automation and manage data without customer-facing work. On Professional and Enterprise, an Ops seat costs €50 a month, while a GTM seat costs €100 or €175.
Does HubSpot still charge for marketing contacts? ▾
No. Under the new model, marketing contacts are gone and email is charged per send instead. You can store as many contacts as your edition's record limit allows and only pay when you email them. One-to-one emails from a connected inbox and sequence emails don't use credits.
How much do HubSpot credits cost? ▾
Additional HubSpot credits cost €10 per 1,000. Every edition includes a monthly allowance, and you can either buy packs for a fixed, discounted monthly amount or pay as you go at the full rate. Included credits reset each month and don't roll over.
Do HubSpot workflows use credits? ▾
Yes. Workflows are charged per action, per record, so a three-step workflow uses three actions each time a record goes through it. Delays and branches are free. A workflow actions pack covers the large majority of customers, but old or overly long workflows can still waste credits.
How can I stop my HubSpot bill from going up unexpectedly? ▾
Set spend caps at portal, feature or action level and turn on usage alerts. Then clean your email list so you're not paying to email people who never open, switch off workflows nobody uses, and move report-only users from GTM seats to Ops or view-only seats. A partner review before you renew is the quickest way to catch all three.
