How Does HubSpot's New Pricing Work?
HubSpot's new pricing replaces separate hubs with three ingredients: an edition (Starter, Professional or Enterprise) that unlocks the whole platform, seats for the people who use it, and credits for the work HubSpot does on its own, like sending emails, running workflow steps and powering AI agents. You no longer buy Marketing, Sales and Service separately. You pick how big your business is, staff it, and pay for what actually runs.
The easiest way to understand it is to stop thinking about software and start thinking about a restaurant. Under the old model you paid separately for the bar, the dining room and the takeaway counter, even though they all shared one kitchen. Now you run one restaurant, you staff it, and you pay for what the kitchen cooks.
What Has Changed in HubSpot's Pricing
Until now you bought hubs: one for marketing, one for sales, one for service, each at its own tier. Mixing a Professional Marketing Hub with a Starter Sales Hub was normal, and working out the bill meant untangling hubs, seat types, marketing contacts and add-ons. The new model throws that out and asks three simpler questions.
Each hub was a separate purchase with its own tier, seats and limits.
- Marketing, Sales and Service bought one by one
- Mixed tiers across hubs
- Marketing contacts billed by database size
One edition covers the whole platform. Seats and credits flex with how you work.
- Edition: how big and complex the business is
- Seats: who works where
- Credits and packs: what the kitchen cooks
How Big Is Your Restaurant
You now buy HubSpot itself at one of three editions, and every edition comes with the whole platform. Marketing, sales, service and the rest are all in the building. What changes between editions is scale and sophistication, not which rooms you are allowed into.
Starter: The Neighbourhood Café
Built for small teams, with a maximum of 10 paid users and typically fewer than 5,000 contacts. You get basic automation, live chat and the core tools to find and win customers.
Professional: The Busy Restaurant With a Full Menu
For growing teams, typically with fewer than 50,000 contacts. Professional adds omni-channel automation, custom objects, the Customer Agent and multi-touch revenue reporting.
Enterprise: The Restaurant Group
For large teams and databases of more than 50,000 contacts, with sandboxes, granular permissions and multi-account management for businesses running several operations at once.
The question HubSpot now asks is simple: how large and how complex is your business? That answer is your edition.
Who Works Where
Seats are your staff. HubSpot has cut them down to four kinds, and there are no seat minimums, so you only pay for the people you actually need.
Front of House: The GTM Seat
The people who deal with your customers: the waiters, the maître d' and whoever takes the booking. In HubSpot terms that means sales, service, customer success and anyone who publishes content or sends marketing emails. They get the sales workspace, help desk, customer success workspace, quotes and playbooks, plus everything the kitchen has.
The Kitchen: The Ops Seat
The people who keep the place running but never go out to a table. They run reports and dashboards, manage the team, enrich the data and build the automation. Your RevOps lead or your workflow builder lives here.
Diners at the Window: View-Only Seats
They can see what is going on but can't touch anything. The managing director who checks the dashboards on a Monday doesn't need a paid seat. View-only seats are free.
The Oven Engineer: Developer Seats
Also free, for the people who build and maintain your integrations.
HubSpot Seat Prices by Edition
| Seat | Starter | Professional | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTM (front of house) | €20 | €100 | €175 |
| Ops (the kitchen) | ✗ | €50 | €50 |
| View-only (diners at the window) | Free | Free | Free |
| Developer (the oven engineer) | Free | Free | Free |
Prices are per seat, per month. Ops seats are not available on Starter.
Paying for What the Kitchen Cooks
Seats pay for your staff. Credits pay for the work HubSpot does on its own: the dishes that leave the kitchen. That means emails sent, workflow actions run, AI agents answering questions, quotes accepted and WhatsApp messages. Credits cost €10 per 1,000, and every edition comes with some included. There are two ways to stock the kitchen.
You agree a fixed monthly delivery at a better price, so the bill is the same every month.
- Email sends packs
- Workflow actions packs
- AI agents packs
No commitment, but you pay the full rate, and on a busy month it adds up quickly.
- Billed monthly after you use it
- Good for unpredictable usage
- Easy to overspend without caps
What's Worth Knowing on the Menu
Email Is Charged per Send, Not per Contact
Marketing contacts are gone. You can keep as many past customers on the books as your edition allows and only pay when you email them. Automated emails such as meeting reminders and surveys count. One-to-one emails from your own inbox and sequences don't. If you read our guide to HubSpot marketing contacts, this is the biggest change to how that works.
Workflows Charge per Step, per Record
A renewal workflow that creates a deal, sets a task and updates a date is three actions every time a customer goes through it. Delays and branches are free. According to HubSpot, the workflow pack for each edition covers more than 99% of customers.
Any Contact Can Go Into Ad Targeting
Not just the ones you paid to market to, which opens up retargeting audiences that used to cost extra.
You Set the Budget With the Supplier
Spend caps can be set for the whole portal, for one feature or for one action, with alerts as usage climbs, so nobody gets a surprise invoice.
What Does a Professional Portal Cost Each Month
Take a growing B2B firm on Professional, used here as an illustration rather than a real client. Two salespeople, one marketer and one person on customer support work front of house. One operations lead runs reporting and automation in the kitchen. Three directors only check the dashboards.
| Item | Who or What | Per Month |
|---|---|---|
| GTM seats | 2 sales, 1 marketing, 1 support | €400 |
| Ops seat | 1 operations lead | €50 |
| View-only seats | 3 directors | Free |
| Email pack | 2,000 sends a month | €200 |
| Workflow pack | Professional, up to 500,000 actions | €150 |
| Credits | 200 Customer Agent chats and 10 accepted quotes, less 10,000 included | €10 |
| Total | €810 |
The seats are the predictable part. The bill moves with how the kitchen is run: how often you email, how many steps your workflows take and how much work you hand to AI agents.
